How to play Risk: Star Wars - The Clone Wars Edition

Divide the players into two factions: Republic or Separatists. Each player chooses a character corresponding to their faction, with unique special powers.

Set up the board with the map of the galaxy and distribute the planets according to the territories indicated in the manual. Players place their initial troops on the planets under their control.

The game is divided into rounds consisting of three phases: Reinforcements, Combat and Mobilization. During the Reinforcements phase, players receive new troops based on the number of planets controlled.

In the Combat phase, you attack adjacent enemy territories. The attack is decided by rolling dice, comparing the results of the attackers and defenders to determine the winner. The attacker can move troops into the conquered territory.

In the Mobilization phase, you can reallocate your troops between territories under your control, maximizing your defenses or preparing for future attacks.

Certain cards, when used, can change the game, offering temporary or permanent advantages, adding a strategic layer to your decisions.

The aim is to control as many territories as possible, eliminating opponents or fulfilling specific objectives that can vary with each match. Conquer strategic planets to obtain bonuses and find a decisive advantage in the battle for the galaxy.

Mechanics of Risk: Star Wars - The Clone Wars Edition

  • Influence / Majority in the Area - In Risk: Star Wars - The Clone Wars Edition, the Influence or Area Majority mechanic is crucial to determining control of territories. Players compete to have the largest presence in various regions of the board, and the one with the most units in an area controls that region, thus gaining strategic benefits and points towards victory. Controlling areas can also provide advantages, such as additional resources, movement points or extra dice in combat.
  • Area Movement - This mechanic deals with how troops are moved around the board. Players can relocate their units between adjacent territories during the turn, planning attacks or reinforcing defensive positions. Strategic movement is vital, because it allows players to increase their influence in specific areas or prepare to start fighting in advantageous locations, while maintaining defenses at critical points on the map.
  • Data Scrolling - Dice rolling in Risk: Star Wars - The Clone Wars Edition is used to resolve combats between players. When attacking, the player rolls a number of dice determined by the number of offensive units, while the defender does the same with his army. The results of the dice determine which units are eliminated, with the highest number on the dice usually indicating success. This mechanic brings an element of luck to the game, requiring players to consider risks and rewards when planning their combat strategies.
