Nyambe (D&D 3.0) - Nyambe: African Adventures

Nyambe: African Adventures transports players to a vibrant and mystical world, where legends come to life amidst golden savannahs and dense rainforests. Here, every step can lead to a new discovery or a terrible fate. The intention is for you and your friends to become the true heroes of this land marked by tradition and magic. In this campaign setting for the D20 System™, players will encounter twelve richly detailed human tribal cultures and six variants of non-human races, such as the enigmatic Wakyambi elves, who watch from afar, ready to intervene when you least expect it. The new classes and prestige classes, such as the shamans who converse with the orishas, offer a unique and immersive experience, allowing characters to transform into dangerous beasts or revel in ancestral wisdom. Among the new talents available, Ancestral Blessing and Drum Dancer evoke the living essence of Nyambe, while warriors and mages will be able to defy the laws of nature with spells inspired by the cycles of life and death. The weapons and armor have been designed with the savannah in mind, where heat can be as deadly an enemy as the opponents in battle. Places of worship and rituals add a new dimension to the game: ritual masks allow you to embody an orisha, while magical items such as zombie dust bring a dark and intriguing thrill to the battlefield. The continent, however, holds terrible secrets; mystical and ferocious creatures wait in the shadows, ready to test the mettle of unwitting adventurers. Get ready for an epic journey in Nyambe, where every game is a new story and every hero will leave their mark!

GAME mechanics

  • Scenario / Mission / Campaign - Nyambe: African Adventures presents a rich African fantasy setting. Game Masters ('GMs') create quests that reflect the complex cultures, geographies and histories of the continent, offering plots and challenges inspired by African myths. Campaigns are a set of interconnected missions where characters develop their stories.
  • Storytelling - The game values oral tradition, encouraging 'MJs' to describe places and situations in great detail. This mechanic is crucial to creating an immersive world, helping players to visualize scenarios and connect emotionally with the narrative.
  • Paper and pen - Essential for recording character information, such as skills and items. During sessions, players note changes and developments, something akin to keeping a travel diary of their characters.
  • Data Scrolling - Nyambe uses dice rolling to determine the success of actions and events. Generally, you roll a 20-sided die (D20), adding modifiers to overcome difficulties imposed by the 'MJ'. The randomness of the dice adds suspense and excitement to the game.
  • RPG - In Nyambe, the RPG is an interactive and collaborative experience between the players and the 'MJ'. Each player plays a character with unique attributes, taking part in adventures in pursuit of defined objectives, while contributing creatively to the unfolding of the plot.
