These elements make the experience even more authentic and fun. The board's properties include iconic locations such as The Diag, where students gather to socialize; The Rock, a symbol of the campus; and the UGLI, the library that holds the knowledge of generations. Each space brings up memories and stories that are sure to resonate with anyone who has had the experience of studying or visiting Michigan. OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME

Michiganopoly is a board game inspired by the classic Monopoly, but with a local twist, focused on capturing the essence of Michigan. Its main goal is to allow players to experience and celebrate the state's culture and traditions in a fun and engaging way, while competing to buy, sell and trade iconic Michigan properties. I remember one time when my friends and I were involved in a fierce match that went on for hours; the dispute over the Mackinac Bridge was especially intense. This game is ideal for fans of the state, offering a chance to explore local treasures and landmarks without leaving home, while sharing good laughs and fierce competitions.

Tips for playing

Here are some tips for doing better in the game Michiganopoly:

  • Concentrate on acquiring properties on the orange and red side; these have the highest rate of return in rentals.
  • Houses are a great strategy. Increase rent quickly by building up to three houses before thinking about hotels.
  • Negotiate fiercely, but fairly. Offer trades that benefit you and the other player to maximize your possessions.
  • Don't underestimate the railroads! Having all of them guarantees a constant flow of money from your opponents.
  • Keep an emergency fund. Unforeseen events happen, so set aside a little money for emergencies to avoid ending up bankrupt.
  • Pay attention to the Chance and Safe cards, they could turn the game in your favor!
  • Less popular locations such as purple and light blue can be cheap to build houses in, maximizing your profit.

GAME mechanics

  • Collecting Sets - In Michiganopoly, players compete to acquire properties in the same set, such as colleges or Michigan monuments. Completing sets makes it possible to build improvements, increasing the rent and profit potential on these properties. The strategy involves not only buying, but also negotiating with other players to obtain key properties.
  • Elimination of Players - Participants are eliminated by losing all their money and assets. This usually happens when they are unable to pay extremely high fees or rents, leading to bankruptcy. A typical story might be that of a player who has invested everything in expensive properties without thinking about the maintenance costs, quickly ending up out of the game.
  • Auction / Bidding - When a player chooses not to buy a property, it goes up for auction. All players can participate and bid on it. This mechanic allows you to acquire properties below market value, if others don't pay attention to your available resources. It's a golden opportunity for those who know how to calculate their risks and rewards.
  • Negotiation - Fundamental to the game, negotiation involves exchanging property, money or cards between players. The ability to persuade or make tempting offers can completely change the course of a game. For example, you may have witnessed someone who made a simple deal become the richest just because they knew the right time to negotiate.
  • Scroll / Rotate and Move - The fate of the players is guided by the outcome of the dice. This action determines how many spaces the player will advance on the board, affecting which properties they can acquire or penalties they face. Unpredictability can be both a blessing and a curse, depending on where you end up on the board.
