Image & Action

Image & Action is a game that stimulates creativity and interaction between players. Over the course of a game, you don't have to be an artist; what really matters is how much fun you can have and how much you can use your imagination! The game has a wide range of 2,400 words or expressions, organized into six different categories. During the game, each player takes on the role of a sketch artist in a round, trying to convey a word or expression to their team only through drawings. Here, verbal communication is completely forbidden; you can't speak, write letters or numbers, and gestures are completely forbidden. The only resource you'll have at hand will be a piece of paper and a pencil, allowing you to doodle and sketch whatever creativity dictates. What's more, your teammates will have a limited amount of time, marked by an hourglass, to guess what is being drawn. This dynamic brings a dose of adrenaline and laughter as everyone works together to unearth the solutions. If you're looking for a fun time with friends or family, Imagem & Ação is a sure-fire choice to guarantee great memories and lots of laughs!

OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME

The main objective of the Image & Action game is to stimulate creativity and communication between the participants, who must draw visual clues so that their team can guess a word or expression within a limited time. I remember the first time I played with my family during a holiday; we laughed so much at the improvised attempts at art that we could hardly concentrate. With a ticking clock and the sheer fun of communicating ideas through doodling, the game becomes a perfect catalyst for unforgettable memories and guaranteed laughter.

Tips for playing

Here are some tips for doing better in the game Image & Action:

  • Draw quickly, without worrying about perfection. The focus is on conveying the basic idea.
  • Use universal symbols, such as a light bulb for "idea" or a heart for "love".
  • Be clear and avoid complications. Keeping things simple can help your colleagues guess faster.
  • Focus on the key elements of the word or phrase. Choose what will attract the most attention from the players.
  • Observe your colleagues' reactions. If they are nearby, make gestures to direct them in the right direction.
  • If possible, try to visualize the word in your mind before drawing it and divide it into parts if that helps.
  • Avoid using numbers or letters, just focus on the drawing to represent the idea.
  • If the word is too abstract, associate it with something concrete that everyone knows.

GAME mechanics

  • Team Play - Players are divided into teams and compete to see who can correctly represent and guess the words or phrases. This format encourages collaboration and communication between team members, which can lead to fun and strategic moments.
  • Paper and pen - Essential tools for the mechanics of the game, where a player draws visual clues on paper so that their teammates can guess the correct answer. The ability to convey ideas through a simple drawing is a challenging skill and central to this dynamic.
  • Scroll / Rotate and Move - Using a dice or a roulette wheel allows you to determine which categories or challenges players will face on their turn. This mechanic brings an element of randomness and unpredictability, adding excitement to each round.
  • Deduction - Team members have to interpret the drawing quickly and deduce the correct word or phrase. This mechanic trains the ability to make logical connections and think outside the box, while trying to decipher their colleagues' strokes and scribbles.
  • Real Time - Players have a limited amount of time to complete their turns, which intensifies the pressure and challenge. The use of a timer keeps the pace of the game fast and requires quick and precise decisions, making each round a race against time.
