How to play Cosmic Wimpout

To start playing Cosmic Wimpout, each player rolls all five dice. The player with the highest initial score starts the game. Each turn involves rolling all five dice and trying to score points based on the combinations that roll.

On your turn, you keep playing until you "Wimpout", i.e. when you fail to score points in a turn. If this happens, you don't score any points for that round. To avoid this, it is advisable to stop playing after you have accumulated some safe points.

You score points by rolling specific combinations: 5 points for each die that shows "5", 10 points for each "10". Three identical dice (except sixes) have their own point value. A "flash", which is three identical dice in one roll, is worth ten times that number. Three sixes on an immediate roll result in a flipout.

If you manage to roll all the dice and score points, you can choose to roll again until you get stuck. One of the key strategies is to know when to stop in order to guarantee accumulated points and avoid a Wimpout.

Main objective

Cosmic Wimpout is a dice game whose main objective is to accumulate points through successful rolls using five customized dice. Players must balance the risk of continuing to roll the dice to increase their score with the possibility of losing points by failing to achieve valid combinations. The game ends when one player reaches or surpasses a predefined score, thus winning the match.

Mechanics of Cosmic Wimpout

  • Rolling dice: In Cosmic Wimpout, players use five six-sided dice to start their game. The objective is to roll the dice and obtain combinations that generate points, seeking to maximize the total score. The initial roll determines the options and strategies for subsequent turns within your turn.
  • Collecting Sets: During the roll, players try to get specific sets of numbers or patterns, such as three identical numbers or a specific sequence. These sets are converted into points. For example, three dice showing the value 5 can be worth additional points according to the rules of the version being played.
  • Push your luck: After each valid roll, players must decide whether they want to stop and keep the points obtained up to that point or continue rolling to try to increase their score. The decision to continue rolling risks resulting in a roll where there are no scoring combinations, resulting in the loss of all the points accumulated in that turn.
  • Scroll again: If, after a roll, the player obtains a combination that allows them to continue, they must re-roll the dice that did not make up that combination. Rolling again is a way of increasing the score, but it also carries the risk of rolling a combination that doesn't score and losing the progress of that turn.
  • Bloqueio: In certain situations, a player may find themselves in a "block", which occurs when a roll does not result in any scoring combinations, immediately ending their turn. This highlights the importance of deciding when to stop rolling, to avoid a block that leads to the loss of all the points accumulated in the round.
