How to play Blood Rage

Blood Rage is a turn-based board game where each player controls a Viking clan in search of glory before Ragnarök. Each clan starts with action cards, warrior miniatures and resource tokens.

At the start of each era, players carry out a card draft phase, where they pick and pass cards until they have a complete hand. These cards include missions, clan upgrades and monsters.

During the rounds, players use Fury, which is their main currency, to carry out actions such as Invading, Marching, Improving the Clan and taking part in Battles. Manage Fury carefully to optimize your actions.

When taking part in battles, players can choose a combat card to add to the strength value of their miniatures. The total strength will determine the winner, who will gain glory.

Towards the end of the ages, more provinces are destroyed by Ragnarök and the available battle zones shrink, intensifying the conflict.

Victory points can be obtained in various ways: by completing missions, winning battles, improving the clan or even dying heroically in battle.

Plan your strategies well to maximize your points over three eras and emerge victorious before Ragnarök consumes the world.

Main objective

In Blood Rage, the players' main objective is to collect as many glory points as possible, which are earned by controlling territories, winning battles and fulfilling specific missions during Ragnarök, the Norse apocalypse. Each player represents a Viking clan seeking to maximize its renown before the end of the world, using strategy to improve skills, recruit monsters and gods, and balance military conquests with heroic losses, exploring combat dynamics and resource allocation.

Mechanics of Blood Rage

  • Influence / Majority in the Area: In Blood Rage, control of regions is crucial. Each player positions their troops in territories to gain strategic advantages and glory points. The dominant presence in an area at the end of each phase confers specific rewards, influencing the course of the game.
  • Area Movement: Players move their units across the regions of the board to conquer territories, take part in battles and carry out looting. This movement is essential for expanding influence and securing rewards throughout the game.
  • Action Points: Each player has limited action points each round, called "Rage", which are used to perform actions such as moving units, summoning monsters, upgrading troops and activating special abilities. Effective management of Rage points is vital to dominating the match.
  • Hand Management: Players receive cards that can be used to strengthen armies, activate special abilities or influence battles. Managing these cards well is crucial to maximizing strategic potential and scoring opportunities.
  • Map: Addition: The modular map can be changed by adding new pieces or cards, influencing the flow of play. Players must adjust their strategies as the map evolves and offers new opportunities or challenges.
  • Memory: Players must remember previously played cards and the state of the board to predict opponent moves and strategies, adjusting their tactics accordingly.
  • Conflict Resolution by Letters: Conflicts between units are resolved by playing battle cards. Players secretly select a card, which can increase combat power or confer special abilities, determining the outcome of the confrontation.
  • Open Buy: During the card draft, some cards are visible to all players, allowing them to make strategic decisions based on the available options, adding a layer of advance strategy.
  • Simultaneous Action Selection: In certain stages, all players choose and reveal their actions at the same time. This adds an element of surprise and requires anticipating your opponents' actions in order to make effective decisions.
  • Purchase closed: During the draft phases, players select cards for their hand secretly, without their opponents knowing what has been chosen, increasing unpredictability and strategic depth.
