How to play Back to the Future: Back in Time

Back to the Future: Back in Time is a cooperative game where players work together to ensure that Marty McFly and Doctor Brown manage to make the events of 1955 happen exactly as they should.

At the start, each player chooses a character: Marty, Doc, Jennifer or Einstein. Each character has specific skills that can be used strategically throughout the game.

Use the movement cards to spread your actions around the board. The main objective is to move the DeLorean around the city, while you command the characters to ensure that George and Lorraine fall in love, as well as keeping Biff away and fixing the DeLorean.

Players need to collect important parts of Doc's inventory, solve key events and hope that the clock wheel doesn't move until midnight before everything is fixed. If the wheel reaches midnight, the game ends in defeat.

Find a balance between completing individual objectives and cooperating to advance in the overall mission, as some events can only be solved by certain characters or through cooperation between them.

Each turn, roll the dice and use the results to advance, overcome challenges or avoid problems, using your special abilities when possible. Think strategically and work as a team to succeed at the end of the game.

Mechanics of Back to the Future: Back in Time

  • Cooperative: In Back to the Future: Back in Time, players must work together to complete the game's objectives. Each player controls a character from the movie, such as Marty McFly or Doc Brown, and must collaborate with the others to ensure that the DeLorean is ready for time travel and that historical events take place as required. Cooperation is essential, as the game presents challenges that require specific skills and cards only available to certain characters. Therefore, planning actions together and sharing resources is key to success.
  • Data Scrolling: Dice rolling is a central mechanic in the game, used to perform practically every action. Each player rolls a number of dice with different symbols that can be used to move characters, interfere in events or fight enemies. For example, a lightning bolt symbol may be needed to run or manipulate the DeLorean, while a fist symbol can be used to confront Biff and his henchmen. The randomness introduced by the dice requires players to constantly adapt to circumstances and make strategic use of the results obtained.
