Age of War

Age of War is a dynamic game of strategy and conquest, designed for 2 to 6 players, set in the unstable period of feudal Japan. Created by renowned designer Reiner Knizia, the game invites participants to become ambitious daimyos, fighting for the domination of rival clans and the unification of Japan under a single flag. During the game, players must carefully plan their attacks on a selection of fourteen castles, representing six different clans: Mori, Uesugi, Chosokabe, Shimazu, Tokugawa and Oda. Each castle features battle lines with specific symbols, requiring players to roll dice to try and conquer the opposing fortress. The strategy lies in choosing where to allocate your forces and how to maximize the dice results for each attack. As the game progresses, the tension grows, as each player seeks not only to win castles, but also to conquer all the members of a clan in order to score valuable points. Victory is reserved for the player who demonstrates the best combination of tactics and daring, bringing together castles and loyalties in a single domain. Get ready for an epic showdown, where every move could determine who becomes the true ruler of Japan!

How to play Age of War

Age of War is a strategy game where you have to defend your base and destroy the enemy base. Start by building towers to defend your base effectively against the initial waves of enemies.

As you accumulate resources, train units to attack the enemy base. Balance unit production and defense, taking into account the strength of each type of unit in different eras of the game.

Evolve to more advanced eras as soon as possible; this unlocks more powerful units. Use special abilities strategically to turn battles in your favor during critical moments.

Manage your resources well and prioritize the upgrade of your base and towers, ensuring solid defenses against enemy attacks while you join forces for an effective counterattack.

Main objective

The main objective of the Age of War game is to defeat the enemy army by destroying its base while evolving your own civilization through historical eras; players must strategically manage resources to train units and build defensive towers to protect their base and advance technologically to gain advantages over the opponent.

Mechanics of Age of War

  • Collecting Sets - Players must capture castles by collecting sets of dice symbols specific to each castle. These symbols must be combined according to the specific castle card to complete the achievement.
  • Data Scrolling - On their turn, the player rolls a set of dice with icons of swords, horses, flags and so on. The combination of symbols determines which actions and achievements can be carried out that round.
  • Roll Again - After the first roll, players have the opportunity to re-roll the dice they wish to replace, in an attempt to improve their combinations and increase their chances of capturing a desired castle.
  • Blocking - When a player conquers a castle, he "locks" that castle so that other players can't capture it unless they complete an additional required set of dice, thus increasing the complexity of the game.
